Striving for unattainable perfection can be both positive and negative. On one hand, having high standards and striving for excellence can motivate individuals to work hard and continuously improve. This can lead to personal growth and the achievement of remarkable results. Striving for perfection is a common goal for many of us. We want to be the best in everything we do, to be the perfect partner, parent, employee, friend, or even human being. But perfection is an unattainable goal. It is a standard that is impossible to meet and chasing it only leads to disappointment, frustration, and stress.
Perfectionism
can take over our lives and cause us to become obsessed with every detail. We
become fixated on the tiny flaws in our work, the wrinkles in our clothes, or
the blemish on our skin. We compare ourselves to others and constantly try to
improve, but we never seem to reach our desired level of perfection.
This constant pursuit of perfection can also have a negative impact on our relationships. We may become too critical of those around us, expecting them to meet our high standards. We may also become too hard on ourselves, constantly striving for perfection even when it is not necessary.
